Sony Ericsson patents new mobile phone design form

Design incorporates pivoting screen

10 July 2006 12:52 GMT / By Amber Maitland

Sony Ericsson has apparently patented a new design for a phone that incorporates a rotating, flipping screen.

The diagram shows a clamshell design with a screen that pivots within a frame.

According to the website that dug up the patent, MobileScraper, the design incorporates two pivot points, which makes it more robust than the similar design of the LG P7200.

Thus, the mobile could potentially incorporate a camera and touchscreen, functions that are quite heavy and yet delicate.
