Apple looks to be shunning NFC tech in favour of the more readily- available barcodes, highlighting how easy it is to use the barcode on screen in its latest advert.

The advert, "If you don't have an iPhone, well, you don't have an iPhone", spouts the latest brand message, with the company seemingly keen to point out the obvious.

Not content with telling you just how easy it is to buy a new app (which, incidentally, fails to show you long loading times and password entry each time), Apple tries to convince you that you won’t need the new tech at all, hinting that a screen with different barcodes on it is ample to pay for things at the checkout or check in for a flight.

Of course, it’s Apple’s usual distortion field in action as Android, BlackBerry, and every other mobile phone operating system out there has exactly the same features. But, as the young-uns on the corners in Cupertino would say:

“If you don't have an iPhone, well, you don't have an iPhone.”

Do you have an iPhone? And if so, will you miss NFC? Let us know in the comments below...
