WEBSITE OF THE DAY – eBook Fling

Prove the nay-sayers wrong and share and share alike

There’s a kind of reassuring inevitability to each new online innovation. Every time a new virtual commodity comes along, pretty soon somebody comes up with a way to trade it, share it, or otherwise distribute it to the masses.

It’s a well-documented legal grey area when it comes to copyright-protected material like films and music files, but eBooks are a relatively new digital medium and one of the often-quoted objections to them is that they’re “not real” and you “can’t pass them on to somebody else”. We beg to differ and ebookfling.com would seem to prove the point rather elegantly

US-based readers can now share their eBooks and every time they lend one, they earn a credit to borrow one from somebody else.

It’s the new incarnation of the humble book club, and we reckon this will be broadening its horizons beyond the American borders very soon. It’s Kindle and Nook only, but that still covers more title than you cold ever hope to get through.
