Sony first showed off its see-through SLT device last month at a trade show in Japan. And Pocket-lint has now been given a chance to get up close with the model that is expected to materialise into something a little more practical later in the year.
The concept is based on a yet-to-be-released midrange camera (that should hit the shops later this year), and unfortunately, says Sony, is unlikely to be released in that see-through case.
“We wanted to prove that we could do it,” Sony’s UK digital imaging marketing manager Andreas Georghiades told Pocket-lint, as we had a quick fondle with the new chassis.
The Alpha-branded camera will use Sony's translucent mirror tech, the same as you might have come across on the SLT-A33 or SLT-A55 ranges released last year.
The sensor will be the newly-developed Exmor APS HD CMOS, and there'll be a fast continuous autofocus feature.
No release details have been confirmed, and Georghiades was having none of our cunning tactics to get any real specs or details out of him.
Still, until we do get official details, enjoy the bevy of shots we’ve managed to snap.
