If you’ve ever wondered what happens behind the scenes in making one of EA’s Fight Night games, then wonder no more.

Here we have a quick video of some of the motion capture that goes into building the models to ensure that the character movements are realistic and true to life. With David Haye being one of the biggest names on the billing, it only seems fit to have him strutting his stuff in the ring.

EA tells us that the suit he is wearing needed 28 separate measurements to get the perfect fit and it cost £625. That’s small fry compared to the equipment used. It’s filmed in EA Sport’s £7m studio in Vancouver and the 120 infra-red cameras used to capture the WBA Heavyweight Champion’s movements cost £1.5m.

Basically the IR cameras record the movements of the dots stuck to the suit so that the computer can accurately depict the motion of the body as various actions take place. Motion capture is commonplace in movies, but is also used, along with straight video capture, to analyse sports men and women to provide coaches with the information they need to adjust technique and improve performance and efficiency.

EA’s Fight Night Champion is looking to build on the success of the franchise, bringing a new spin to boxing games. It lands in store today on PS3 and Xbox 360. We also like EA's interview with Mike Tyson, below, and when you're done, check out our full review of the game.
