Epic's Unreal Engine seems set to continue its mobile gaming assault after French publisher Gameloft announced that it will be using version 3.0 of the game engine in four upcoming titles to be released over the next two years.

Released for iOS devices back in December last year, Unreal Engine has also been stated as a supported platform for Sony's highly anticipated NGP (aka the PSP 2).

And now it will be hitting the Gameloft catalogue (stretched across iOS, Android, PlayStation Network and set-top boxes) with two new titles in 2011 and two more in 2012.

“Gameloft is very pleased to partner with Epic, especially with their ability to stay ahead of the curve and continually place the best game engine technology in developers’ hands at any given point in time,” said Julien Fournials, vice president of production at Gameloft.

“Using Unreal Engine 3 allows us to push game visuals with remarkable lighting and high-fidelity environments. We are confident that players will enjoy the games powered by Unreal Engine 3.”

Mark Rein, vice president at Epic Games said: “We are thrilled to provide our technology to Gameloft and look forward to a lasting collaboration.”

We at Pocket-lint are massive fans of the Gameloft range (even the blatant, but somehow still original, rip-offs) and we'll be keeping a keen eye on any Epic developments.
