Archos Arnova, that’s the name of a new range of entry-level tablets from the French company Archos that will come in a range of sizes from 7- to 10-inches and cost from 99 euros (£84) to 249 euros (£212).

"Packed full of multimedia features and simple to use, the new Arnova range of Android tablets is a great entry-level way to experience the world of tablets," explains the company looking to both appeal to those who want in on the cheap, as well as being careful not to suggest that the new models are featureless.

The big daddy of the range will be the Arnova 10. It will come with a 10-inch capacitive - or resistive if you’re on a tight budget - screen as the name suggests, and a USB socket so you can connect a mouse, keyboard or external hard disk. The Arnova 8 will be an 8-inch touchscreen tablet with a 4:3 format, while the Arnova 7 will be a super cheap 7-inch model.

All the models will run Android 2.2, alas not Honeycomb, and all come with the option of the two screen technologies, capacitive or resistive, allowing Archos to make out that they are all so cheap. On the 10- and 8-inch models you’ll get a 720p resolution so you can enjoy HD movies as well.

The Arnova 10 is already available in Europe through Kesa group stores from 199 euros (£170) while the Arnova 8 will be available during March from 149 euros (£127). The Arnova 7 will be available in the second quarter and if you go for that resistive screen it will cost £84.
