Apple releases the 17-inch iMac for students

Students can buy the Mac for £639

Apple is selling an education iMac for students at the bargain price of £639.

It's a new version of the 17-inch iMac that replaces the eMac, which Apple has killed off.

It features a 1.83GHZ Intel Core Duo Processor, a widescreen LCD display, and built-in iSight webcam.

iLife '06 software is included, as are a Combo drive, 512MB of RAM that can be upgraded to 2GB, and an 80GB hard drive as standard, with the option of expanding it to 160Gb.

For internet connectivity, it includes built-in 10/100/1000 BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet and AirPort Extreme 802.11g Wi-Fi.

Five USB ports, three of which are 2.0 and two FireWire 400 ports are available for connection to peripherals.
