VTech InnoPad teaches multitouch skills to kids

Do you hate it when your little 'uns get hold of your iPad? Don't you wish that they had a tablet of their own that they could smear their biscuit crumbs and snotty fingers all over.

Well, now they can have, as VTech has announced the InnoPad - which has a 5-inch LCD touchscreen and will teach your kiddies all the skills they'll need for the inevitable touchscreen revolution.

The InnoPad also has tilt-sensor game controls, a microphone, a headphone socket (so you don't have to listen to Elmo singing the alphabet 27 times in a row) an SD card slot and also a USB port too.

On board there is an MP3 player, a video player and other apps such as a calculator, calendar, notepad, clock (with personalised voice alarm) and an address book.

There's no connectivity on board, so it's safe from web nasties, but you can hook it up to your PC to access new content, such as interactive books and games from VTech's Learning Lodge Navigator.

Aimed at 4-9 year-olds, the VTech InnoPad will be available in the autumn priced at $79.99. Software cartridges, such as Cars 2, Disney Fairies, Disney Princess, Dora the Explorer, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, The Penguins of Madagascar, Scooby-Doo, SpongeBob Squarepants, and Toy Story will cost $24.99.
