First launched in 2010 in the US the Incredible has broken out of North America and is headed to Europe, straight into the hands of Pocket-lint for a quick hands-on play; first in a private briefing before Mobile World Congress, and again in Barcelona at the company's official press event.

So what's the main difference to the US variant? The design. While the Incredible S still sells that "inside out message" the UK version has been refined and tweaked to be less "brash".

Couple that with the decision to coat the Incredible S in HTC's soft-touch covering rather than metal, and it's the company's new design-focused handset that will appeal to those who never got around to getting the HTC Legend.

Not that it looks anything like the Legend. Gone is that iconic chin and in is a bobbly back making the phone look like it has been shrink wrapped. HTC told us that the design was as much led by the technical engineering team as the designers, and the undulations reflect the components within.

Strangely it comes with Froyo at launch rather than Gingerbread. HTC says that is something that will be altered ASAP, but it's not going to happen in time for launch.

As for specs you'll get a 1GHz single-core processor, a 4.1-inch screen and a 5-megapixel camera around back. There's HTC Sense, in-built memory and the usual array of HTC toys included.

You can expect a more detailed look of the HTC Incredible S once we've spent more time than we've currently had so far with it.
