Pioneer details Windows 7 boasting DreamBook ePad F10

Now, let us first curb your enthusiasm. This isn't a tablet from the Japanese electronics giant Pioneer, but an effort from Australian company Pioneer Computers with its DreamBook ePad F10.

But it's still a nifty sounding slate, and it's boasting an Intel Atom Oak Trail chip as well as a Windows 7 option, so it makes a nice break from the wealth of Android tablets that seem to be flying in from all angles.

It packs the 1.5 GHz Intel Atom Z670 chip backed up with up to 2GB of RAM. Its display is a 10.1-inch, 1024x600 multitouch one, and there will be between 16GB and 128GB of SSD storage on board.

Connectivity is via Wi-Fi or optional 3G and there’s also support for Intel’s WIDI wireless display system too. You'll also find a HDMI port, a USB port, mic and headphone jacks, a SIM card slot, and a SD card slot.

It also features a 1.3-megapixel webcam and the battery should last for up to 8 hours.

Looking at the specs, it sounds like a bit of an updated rival for another Aussie export - the Tega V2, which Pocket-lint got hands on with last year.

As well as Windows 7, the DreamBook ePad F10 is also Android and MeeGo "ready" and prices will start at around AUS$499 for the lowest spec'd model with no OS on board.
