TOY FAIR 2011: 25 years in the making

Tetris Link: The Tetris board game

Tetris, the video game you’ve known and loved for the last 25 years, is being turned into a board game.

The game, created by traditional board game company John Adams in the UK, has “reworked” the classic idea for kids who aren't allowed to spend hours in front of the television or computer.

Called Tetris Link, the idea is that opponents are pitted against each other in “a strategic contest of linking and blocking.”

What that means in the real world is that rather like Connect 4, players score points each time they link three or more pieces together, while the other players try to stop that happening.

The game is expected out later this year, although, sadly, it won't come with an annoying soundtrack on CD in the box.
