After what seems to be an age and a half of waiting, Duke Nukem will finally make a return to the console on 6 May in the UK 2K Games and Gearbox Software has announced.

Although available in the US from the 3 May, UK will have to wait an extra three days to get the “Irreverent, non-PC, and uber macho, Duke Nukem” on their Xbox 360, PS3, Mac or PC.

“May 3, 2011 marks Duke’s return as he unleashes his brash and brutally honest wit on the world. His return is going to be epic and one that will make video gaming history!” declared Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K.

According to the company the storyline will see Duke go up against the alien hordes once again with only Duke able to save the world.

“Pig cops, alien shrink rays and enormous alien bosses can’t stop our hero from accomplishing his one and only goal: to save the world, save the babes and to be a bad-ass while doing it,” says 2K Games.

Players looking to get access to the Duke Nukem Forever playable demo before it is publicly released can join the Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club.

A membership certificate for the Duke Nukem Forever First Access Club is included within the Borderlands Game of the Year edition.
