Short of kidnap, it seems mobile carriers will try anything to get you onto some kind of contract or PAYG scheme, and this one from the Carphone Warehouse hopes that a way to your mobile heart is through your stomach.
The Carphone Warehouse has launched a tariff which dishes (sorry) a free 12-month Taste Card worth £69.95 and phone, if you're willing to stump up £5.10 a month. For this princely sum you'll also receive 50 texts and 50 minutes of calls per month on TalkMobile.
The phones on offer include the Samsung E2121B, Nokia 1800, Nokia 2330 or Nokia 2220, so nothing particularly fancy but they should do all the basics well enough.
To qualify for the Taste Card you can go for the pay monthly option described above or there is a PAYG option on phones priced at over £44.95. The card gives 50 per cent off food at over 4,000 restaurants up and down the country.
To find out the range of restaurants that participate, you can visit the Tastecard website, and for more details on the offer itself here's a handy link to the Carphone Warehouse.
