Nokia has just announced the UK launch of the Nokia C5-03 handset, which it describes as "stylish and affordable".

The 3G Nokia C5-03 brings decent connectivity in the form of Wi-Fi and HSDPA, and your window on the web turns out to be a 3.2-inch touchscreen - so just about big enough for mobile browsing.

There's a wide variety of carriers for the phone including T-Mobile, Carphone Warehouse, Virgin, O2, Vodafone and Phones 4u, which is an indication of the scatter-gun approach to the launch of many Nokia handsets as they fail to create any kind of buzz with potential customers.

Nokia continues to struggle in the smartphone sector, with the recent Nokia N8 being greeted with average reviews. So for the moment at least it looks like the company will have to settle for this type of mid-level smartphone launch as opposed to higher profile superphones.

Saying that the Nokia C5-03 will no doubt sell, as with the addition of free OVI maps and a few decent app in the OVI Store, it just about does enough. You can pick up the handset from the Nokia online shop for £189 sim free.
