Palm webOS tablet details and images leaked

Palm webOS tablet details and images leaked

18 January 2011 21:15 GMT / By Stuart Miles

An image render and details of HP’s yet to be announced tablet have turned up ahead of what is expected to be an official announcement on 9 February.

Citing trusted sources, Engadget has detailed not one, but two tablets that will be announced and be available later in the year.

According to the anonymous tipster, HP/Palm will launch a 9-inch webOS tablet currently called Topaz, and a 7-inch webOS tablet called Opal.

Working off the details in the picture, the buttonless design will sport a front-facing camera, a micro USB port on the bottom and “what appears to be a Vizio Tablet-style three speaker arrangement for stereo audio in both landscape and portrait modes -- that's two speakers along the left side and a third on the right”.

According to the US gadget site the devices will appear in the shops in September in “WiFi-only, AT&T 3G, and Verizon LTE” versions.

However, some aren't so sure of the image renders, suggesting that it's unlikely to have both HP and Palm's logos on the device following speculation from HP that it was looking to ditch the Palm name.

More details of the tablets, which have been promised by HP’s CEO for some time now are expected at the company’s launch in San Francisco just days before Mobile World Congress, the world’s largest phone tradeshow in Barcelona.

Pocket-lint will be reporting live from the event.
