The Social Network cleans up at the Golden Globes

We always knew that The Social Network would be well received.

There's no need to check our articles about the movie from the past, you won't find any mention of us saying that the Facebook movie may be a bit "corny" or hinting that a film with Justin Timberlake is destined to fail. So don't bother checking, just believe us, okay?

And it seems our faith was justified as David Fincher's adaptation of Ben Mezrich's 2009 book The Accidental Billionaires (with the screenplay by Aaron Sorkin) picked up four awards at the 2011 Golden Globes, including the biggie - the best motion picture award.

Fincher also took the prize for his directing, Sorkin for his screenplay and there was also an award for Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross for the best score.

The Social Network came out in October 2010 and grossed almost $200 million at the box office (on a budget of $40 million).

So it's all eyes on the Academy Awards now for The Social Network crew - since the first Golden Globes in 1943 the winner of the two categories normally offered by the Globes for best picture have gone on to grab the Oscar 45 times.
