LG has hinted to Pocket-lint that the G-Slate, the company's new Honeycomb powered tablet, launched with T-Mobile at CES at the start of January, will make it to the UK in many variations.
When asked whether the G-Slate will it be coming to the UK, James Choi, marketing strategy and planning team director of LG Electronics global gave us a rather coy answer:
“That information isn’t available yet. The first announcement was for the Americas. We are planning another announcement pretty soon”.
When that announcement will be we aren’t sure, but with Mobile World Congress just weeks away we would be foolish to think that LG wouldn’t use the world’s biggest mobile phone conference in Barcelona to at least say something.
That’s great, but the T-Mobile G-Slate is a 4G device and 4G isn’t available outside of the US at the moment. Not a problem, says Choi, while not confirming anything in particular, but he did give an example of how other companies do it:
“For the iPad you have the Wi-Fi version, the 3G version, different kinds of versions”, explains Choi. “I’ll put it to you this way, even if the 4G version isn’t in the UK...”
At that point his PR chaperone steps in, cutting off Choi in mid-sentence.
“It’s one of the key products that we are working on, so we’re trying to keep a tight lid on it”, says his protector, and with that the interview is over.
