Skype free group video calling trial ends

12 January 2011 9:59 GMT / By Paul Lamkin

Skype has been sending out emails to its users stating that the free group video trial period has ended and that a premium subscription is now required if you want to keep on using the service.

You can still sign up for a 7-day free trial if you haven't tested it out, but after that you'll need to cough up £2.99 for a day pass, or £4.99 for monthly access - packages that were announced over in Vegas at CES 2011.

However, Skype currently has a special offer for its premium packages. You can get 33 per cent off 3- and 12-month subscriptions until 28 February.

Group video calls can be made between 3 to 10 people, although only one person on the call needs a Skype premium subscription.
