Two new Aspire x253 series notebooks have been revealed from Acer at CES 2011 in Las Vegas, and Pocket-lint is on hand to give you the low-down on specs and when you can expect to get your hands on them.

The Acer Aspire 5253 and 4253, according to the company, come "designed for productivity, family entertainment and kids education", and at there core is the new AMD E-Series Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) and the VISION Engine from AMD, enabling (hopefully) stutter-free HD movies and HD Internet video streaming. There's also DirectX 11 capable graphics and a decent battery life.

The new Aspires comes in two format sizes – 14-inches for the Aspire 4253, and 15.6-inches for the Aspire 5253 - with high-definition Acer CineCrystal LED backlit displays.

One new element to the laptops is Clear.fi, Acer’s new media sharing system based on the idea that it’s easier if all multimedia content is simply brought into a single system with a common interface. Clear.fi is a cross-platform solution that works straight out of the box, automatically detecting the Clear.fi-enabled devices connected to the wireless home network.

The press release also states that the laptops are "Environmentally conscious", something we very much doubt - although they do adopt "technology, materials and processes that comply with prevailing international standards", whatever that means?

The Acer Aspire x253 is expected Q2 in the UK, pricing TBA.

Pocket-lint is reporting from CES 2011 live as it happens, so make sure you keep up with the hottest gossip and news.
