The success of the England cricket team down under has lead to a surge in interest in the England and Wales Cricket Board's (ECB) online offerings.

Its official website saw a 90 per cent increase in traffic during December, up to 572,000 and the Facebook group went from 30,000 to 86,000 - a 160 per cent rise.

The Twitter account @ECB_Cricket has almost double the amount of followers that it did at the start of the series - up to 31,000.

Spin bowler Graeme Swann also kept a video diary on YouTube during the series, which has recorded around 750,000 views.

England won the Ashes urn thanks to a 3-1 series win, culminating in an innings win in Sydney at the SCG.
