ViewSonic has confirmed the 10-inch, Android 2.2, tablet that Pocket-lint exclusively told you about earlier this week. And it has also announced the arrival of a 4-inch Android smartphone as well.

The ViewPad 10s has a 10.1-inch, 1024x600 LED backlit capacitive multi-touch panel, and it is powered by an Nvidia Tegra 250 1GHz platform with a Cortex-A9 processor.

It's got a 1.3-megapixel camera, boasts 3G, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR connectivity and also offers native 1080p HDMI display out.

The ViewPad 4 is a Froyo smartphone with a 4.1-inch WVGA capacitive touchscreen. It packs a zippy Qualcomm MSM 8255 1GHz chip, 512MB of RAM and can shoot HD 720p video as well as playing it back via the HDMI-out.

It's got a 5-megapixel auto-focus camera, Bluetooth 2.1 and 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi and also has a front facing camera for video calling.

“The ViewPad 4 and ViewPad 10s extend the ViewPad range into one that can form the centre of home entertainment as well as on the move with 3G," said Derek Wright, product marketing manager at ViewSonic Europe.

"Using 1GHz Qualcomm and Nvidia chipsets means, the initially Android 2.2 devices will be Flash 10.1 compatible and via HDMI output provide HD output for you and others to enjoy on any compatible TV, monitor or Projector.”

Hold on a minute, did he say "initially Android 2.2"? Can we smell Gingerbread? Or could it be Honeycomb?

The ViewPad 10s and ViewPad 4 European distribution plans and pricing will be confirmed soon.
