We've just received word that the BlackBerry App World 2.1 client beta is going to launch imminently.

The scheduled live time for supported countries is 7pm UK time on 6 January, and it will bring with it a number of key features including:

Support for In-App Payments

• Supports BlackBerry Payment Service which facilitates making a payment/purchase from within an app.

• Customers can now make payments within an app and receive a trusted purchasing experience through carrier billing, PayPal, and credit cards.

• For example, customers now have the ability to purchase; a book within an ebook app, additional maps within a mapping app, the next level in their favourite gaming app.

New Localised Featured Items Carousel

• Provides filtering by combination of country, carrier, device, OS so users will only see apps relevant to them.

BlackBerry App World 2.1 was first announced back in December. The last stable release, 2.0.0.36, went live on 19 August.
