HP webOS announcement coming 9 February

Forgets it's CES this week, as company tries to beat MWC news rush

HP webOS announcement coming 9 February

4 January 2011 20:31 GMT / By Stuart Miles

HP has decided to forget that it’s CES this week, instead issuing an invite for a webOS launch on the 9 February in San Francisco just one week ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona.

The invite, which reads: “Think big. Think small. Think beyond”. Gives little detail to what the announcement could be, but does confirm that the company is planning on an exciting webOS announcement next month.

In December the CEO of HP confirmed that the company planned to launch a webOS tablet in early 2011, while the US has also yet to see the Palm Pre 2, which was launched in the UK to a very lukewarm reception before Christmas.

Rumours first surfaced of a PalmPad set for CES unveiling over Christmas, but that looks to have been wishful thinking.

2011: The year of the tablet say Motorola, HTC, RIM, HP, Apple, Acer, MSI, Asus, and Dell
