Boxee in a different box with Iomega TV

D-link now not your only hardware option

Boxee has announced its second hardware partner - adding storage specialist Iomega to its current partnership with D-Link.

Just like the D-Link Boxee Box, Iomega TV offers up a Linux-based operating system, with the Boxee media centre software fully loaded.

Also, the hardware is pretty similar too, with an Intel CE4110 system-on-a-chip platform (with a 1.2GHz Intel Atom CPU with a PowerVR SGX535 integrated graphics processor), 1GB of RAM memory, 1GB of NAND flash memory, audio and video output ports for HDMI, optical and coaxial digital audio (S/PDIF) connectors, RCA connectors for analogue stereo audio, two USB ports, a 1Gbps Ethernet connection and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

Where it differs though is that Iomega TV with Boxee is described as a "NAS device" and comes with on-board storage in three variations: one with a 1TB hard-drive, one with a 2TB hard-drive and one with no hard-drive at all.

Iomega TV with Boxee will be available in the first quarter of 2011, priced at $229, $299 and $349 depending on what hard drive option you opt for.

UK availability is still to be confirmed.
