If you're jealous of your web-enabled TV touting buddies, but can't afford to get in on the action then help could be on its way from LG, who has announced that it will be, er, announcing the LG ST600 Smart TV Upgrader over at CES.

The ST600 is basically a little box that plugs into your non-internet TV (the press release doesn't state that it has to be a LG TV either) that gives you a gateway to the LG Smart TV apps arena.

As well as the apps, you'll get access to premium content, a web browser and DNLA streaming too - and all for what LG is saying will be an "affordable price".

It connects to the web via Ethernet or Wi-Fi and measures in at a tiny 11 x 11cm.

"The market for Smart TVs is set to take off this year, and the ST600 offers a perfect entry point," said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of LG Home Entertainment Company.

"With the LG Smart TV Upgrader, we're taking the excitement and convenience of Smart TV and adding in LG's trademark ease-of-use because we see a significant audience who are interested but not interested enough to buy a whole new TV."

You may have heard the name ST600 before. And that's because it's also the name of a Samsung 2View camera. But, we supposed that with the amount of tech devices being launched nowadays, the seemingly random combo of letters and numbers would eventually begin to replicate itself.

It's like the infinite monkey theorm. If you get enough monkeys in a room bashing out letters on a keyboard they would eventually recreate the complete works of Shakespeare. Or, the largest independent gadget news and reviews site in the UK - which is, in fact, how Pocket-lint is put together.
