Satnav giant TomTom has rolled out the latest version of its iPhone software, bringing the community powered Map Share into the mix.

Map Share allows you to edit the set maps with your own details, as well as tapping into the maps that the TomTom community have provided.

The changes that you can make include renaming streets, editing the preferred driving directions, as well as blocking routes and streets.

TomTom uses the information provided to make wholesale changes as well, such as altering turn restrictions and speed limits.

"We are pleased to bring our exclusive Map Share technology already enjoyed by millions of TomTom users everyday to our iPhone App", said Tom Murray, senior vice president of market development for TomTom Inc.

"With the addition of Map Share, TomTom App users will get free, verified updates via Map Share anytime on top of the most accurate map available on-board".

TomTom for iPhone is currently in the App Store for £39.99 for UK and Republic of Ireland, or £3 more for the Western Europe version.
