Kinect hacks are ten to the penny these days, so for one to grab our attention it really has to stand out from the crowd. And this one certainly does. It's about as far removed from the virtual puppet show as can be.
Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you the world's first sex-game based hack for Microsoft's motion sensing system from thriXXX - a company that specialises in 3D sex video games.
"Recent events in the Kinect Hacker community and the Open Sourcing of device drivers have enabled the Kinect device to be used directly from connected PC's operating on Windows 7", read the official statement.
"The Kinect interface provides another exciting interface option for users of the sex simulation software to control the experience in extraordinary new ways!"
Those new ways seemingly involve a bit of virtual boob groping at the moment, but the press release promises that eventually the tech will let you "use full body or hand gestures, voice commands and even real world sex toy objects like vibrators to control interactions in-game and between two active participants".
This sounds a bit like the sex scene from Demolition Man, with no actual contact.
We're not sure whether we're appalled or impressed. If thriXXX want to fire us over a copy of a hacked Kinect, and a copy of the game then we'll be sure to let you know.
The software is currently in an early alpha stage but will be made available as an option in all games using the thriXX engine in 2011.
We know that Microsoft is seemingly all for Kinect hacking, but we're not sure that Bill, Steve and the gang would be too impressed with this.
