A year in the making, we are proud to announce the winners of the Pocket-lint Gadget Awards 2010. What were the hottest products of 2010, what won what, and who beat who. Read on to find out.
If you’re reading this, thank you, you haven’t skimmed down the page to find out the winners, we captured your interest for 2 seconds more.
We want to quickly explain how the voting process worked this year. We feel that the way we do it is the fairest in the industry, taking into account a number of different factors to make sure that when we tell you this is the best in its category, it really is.
First Stuart, Chris and the team work out the nominations. These are based on the best products we have seen and reviewed released between now and the 1 December 2009.
From that we take the top five, a hard task when it comes to something like phones, and present them to three groups: A judging panel of what we like to call Tier 0 journalists from national papers, leading websites, and television. They had 30 per cent of the vote.
The second group are journalists within the industry. Unfortunately, because some publishers aren’t too happy about journalists offering their support to Pocket-lint, this is a “black ops” list. This year we’ve had just under 100 journalists vote. They had 60 per cent of the vote.
The final 10 per cent is the public. Enough for owners of the product to tell us they love it, but not enough to completely sway the vote and allow the fanboys to ruin things.
Everyone only had one vote per email.
Thousands of votes later, may I present to you the Pocket-lint Gadget Awards 2010 winners.
