It was supposed to be the flagship handset that re-ignited the Nokia flame and turned the struggling Finnish phone giant's fortunes around, but the N8 has been received with mediocre reviews and is now the centre of faulty handset reports.
Nokia has publicly admitted that a "small number" of N8 handsets that have been shipped have a fault whereby they power off and never come back on again.
Nokia sales chief Niklas Savander admitted the problem, but insisted it was only a minority of phones that were affected, and said any issues would be covered by Nokia's warranty.
However, even minor troubles could mean curtains for the next-gen Symbian handset, as the competition from the likes of Apple, HTC and Samsung intensifies around the once mobile king.
There's not much good news coming out of Nokia HQ as of late, and new CEO Stephen Elop will be desperate for a change of fortunes some time soon.
And it's clear already that hopes that the Nokia N8 might be the saviour are going to prove fruitless.
