Although Pocket-lint has already seen Sagem Wireless' Cosy phone concept, back at Mobile World Congress in February 2010, it's finally ready for human consumption. It is now available in France, and will hit the UK this month (November).

The handset comes with NFC (Near Field Communications) technology in-built, allowing it to recognise compatible "tags" after being waved nearby or above them. And as the tags can be easily customisable by the user, they can trigger functions and features without the need to navigate through a menu system.

It is for this reason that Sagem Wireless suggests that the Cosy is an ideal handset for older customers, as they can dial a number, for example, by waving the handset over a previously set-up tag rather than dial with the buttons.

Additionally, NFC has potential for commercial use, allowing the user to automatically download specific content, say, or automatically dial their telephone banking.

The Cosy phone comes in two flavours, 2G/EDGE and 3G/HSPA, and is supplied SIM-free, although it is likely to be offered on contracts with network providers as and when they sign up.

It features a 2.2-inch 240 x 320 screen, with a 1.3-megapixel camera, 128MB internal memory (with Micro SD HC slot for expansion), and an internal FM radio.
