Is Solwise UMD-606N the world's smallest USB Wi-Fi dongle?

UK PC and telecoms accessory company, Solwise, has added a Wi-Fi dongle to its range that could well lay claim to be the world's smallest. The USB 2.0 device is 802.11n-specified, yet is as small as a British one pence piece.

Measuring 0.75 x 0.55 x 0.31 inches and weighing 2g, it's tiny, and incredibly portable. It also has an internal printed antenna, so comes complete.

The UMD-606N is fully spec'ed, including compatibility with all modern Wi-Fi security standards, including WEP/WPA/WPA2 and WPS authentication, and is capable of data speeds of up to 150Mbps. That's around three times faster than with 802.11b/g rivals. It's also backwards compatible with those standards if your wireless router requires.

And it's not only the device that's small, at £7.50 from Solwise's own website at solwise.co.uk, it's not exactly going to break the bank. However, it is only Windows-compatible - Mac users need look elsewhere.
