iFroyo: The Android touting iPad clone

Best of both worlds

iFroyo: The Android touting iPad clone

iPad knock-offs aren't a new phenomenon.

But a tablet that looks exactly like an iPad, and boasts Android 2.2? That's a whole new beast.

And that's exactly what a Chinese manufacturer has come up with.

With Froyo on board, this iPad clone boasts a 9.7-inch screen, and the same 1024 x 768 resolution as the real-deal. It falls down on the processor speed though with just 800MHz from its Freescale iMX515 chip (which is based on the ARM Cortex A8 architecture).

This iPad imitator has 512MB of RAM, with 4GB of storage. With Android 2.2 running the show, it does trump Apple on the Flash front though - in that it can play it.

There's no word on pricing or availability, but we can't see this hitting shops without Apple kicking up a fuss. Your best bet, if you really want one, is to keep a beady eye on eBay, or pop over to China.
