Were you a little bit worried that Windows Phone 7 was seriously lacking when it came to ebooks?

Well, worry no-more because Amazon has announced that the Kindle app will be making its way to the fledgling phone platform later this year.

Microsoft demonstrated Kindle for Windows Phone 7 for the first time at the annual Microsoft Professional Developers Conference, which is taking place at its Bellevue campus.

"We are pleased to be working with Amazon to launch Kindle for Windows Phone 7", said Achim Berg, corporate vice president of the mobile communications business at Microsoft Corp.

"We designed Windows Phone 7 to bring together a host of services and content - from Microsoft and third parties - in a way that seamlessly integrates the things you care about most, from movies to shopping and reading, and Amazon is key to delivering that experience to customers".

The app, like its Android and iOS cousins, will let you seamlessly read books in your Kindle account across devices, and will also have a recommendation centre, on your Kindle home screen, that will present you with suggested titles and allow you to send book ideas to your buddies.

You can register now to be notified when the Kindle for Windows Phone 7 is available. The app will be free. You'll just have to pay for any premium titles that you want to download.
