Users of the Fotango photo-sharing website were thrown into disarray today after finding out that the company has abruptly announced that it will close down the site next month.

Although the comapny hasn't given a reason for the move, it has said that it will close its doors on the 14 July. However, before customers of the service rush to transfer their images from the doomed service, Fotango has said it has "taken measures to ensure that members' photos will be transferred safely to another image-sharing site".

As of the 14th of July, Fotango customers will be able to access their albums on photo printing site, Photobox.co.uk.

Existing customers have already been sent an email that allows them to transfer their membership to PhotoBox, and have been invited to take advantage of the offer of 30 free 7x5 prints.

Simon Wardley, chief operating officer of Fotango said, "Fotango has made the difficult decision to divest from the digital print business. We believe it is the right decision for the business and we chose to partner with PhotoBox because of their continued commitment and focus to deliver great solutions for customers".
