Western Digital, the storage specialist, has expanded its home entertainment range with the launch of the WD TV Live Hub.

With 1TB of storage, full 1080p playback from a variety of files (including MP4, MKV and MOV), and full DLNA streaming, this really is an all-singing-all-dancing media centre.

As well as being a media playback device, with media stored locally, or via its DLNA connectivity with your Windows 7 or Mac OS machine, you'll also be able to stream media from the box, essentially using it as a server.

The Live Hub also offers some online widgets, most notably from Facebook, Flickr and CNN.

"The WD TV Live Hub media centre lets users create a personalised media jukebox that brings your entire personal content collection and the best of Internet content to the biggest screen in the house", said Dale Pistilli, vice president of marketing for WD's branded products group.

"Consumers can take their home entertainment experience to the next level, streaming personal content to multiple rooms at the same time, so they can play a Netflix video on their HDTV screen in the family room, while sharing vacation slideshows on the computer in their home office".

The WD TV Live Hub has HDMI 1.4 output, component video out and two USB ports.

The device cost $199.99 and is available through Best Buy.
