The official line on Google TV is that it "lets you search across every channel, every app and the entire web, simultaneously" .
The trouble is, it doesn't.
Google has run into problems with some of the major networks over in the US. ABC, CBS and NBC are all blocking Google TV from accessing full-length shows that are hosted on their websites, although some promo clips are accessible.
A spokesperson for the Big G confirmed the issue, stating: "Google TV enables access to all the Web content you already get today on your phone and PC, but it is ultimately the content owners' choice to restrict their fans from accessing their content on the platform".
Some broadcasters, such as HBO, have embraced Google TV and even offer an optimised website for the platform.
However, it is believed that Google has been at loggerheads with other broadcasters over concerns of pirated material being shown in search results.
The rift with the networks adds to the problem that Hulu videos won't play on Google TV either - although there could be a solution to that issue as there are rumours that Hulu Plus, a subscription service, could become available on the platform.
