Mac App Store: Just the apps you need in your iLife

Icons for individual apps spotted during keynote demo

Mac App Store: Just the apps you need in your iLife

If you love editing your pictures and making movies using iPhoto and iMovie within Apple's iLife productivity suite, but have no use for GarageBand because you're about as musically talented as James Blunt, then a solution could be coming your way.

The iLife 11 package, which was announced at Apple's Back to the Mac event, could be getting chopped up into its individual portions and be offered up as part of the new Mac App Store.

So, instead of forking out £45 for the lot - you could grab the aspects you need individually.

There's no official word from Apple on this yet, but during the keynote Mac App Store demo, the icons for iMovie, iPhoto and GarageBand can clearly be seen, all priced at $14.99.

The move makes perfect sense, and would give Apple users more choice with what applications hit their docks.

Of course, the iLife 11 package will be pre-loaded on any new Macs, but if you've already got one, it would be a nice option.

Well done to the eagle-eyes over at Electric Pig for spotting this.
