Palm, recently acquired by HP, has confirmed to Pocket-lint that current Palm smartphones will be getting the new HP webOS 2.0 update later in the year.
"The webOS 2.0 update will be delivered to existing customers in the coming months, with exact timing to be announced at a later date," a spokesman for the company told Pocket-lint.
The news means UK owners of the Palm Pixi Plus, Palm Pre, and Palm Pre Plus will be able to benefit from the new features being rolled out to the even newer Palm Pre 2, launching in France on Friday 22 October.
HP announced the latest overhaul to the company's newly acquired smartphone range on Tuesday, dumping the Palm moniker from the name.
New features promised include the promise of true multitasking, Just Type, HP Synergy, Exhibition and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta. Users will also get Favourites, Skype Mobile, Text Assist, Quickoffice Connect Mobile Suite, Facebook 2.0, Browser, Messaging, VPN, App Catalog, Launcher, Phone, Accounts, Bluetooth keyboards and much more.
