HTC told us that the HTC 7 Trophy is “likely to be the most aggressively priced”. It’s coming to Vodafone as a UK exclusive handset (whilst Orange gets the HTC 7 Mozart).
We pondered the naming. Is it the sort of trophy you’ll set on your mantelpiece to gather dust, or the sort you’ll take out on the town because it looks good, but has little upstairs?
We don’t think it looks as good as the HTC 7 Mozart, but it isn’t a bad looking device, with a mildly rubberised back so it will sit securely in your hand. There is also a 5-megapixel autofocus camera around the back with a flash, offering 720p video capture.
But most of the action is around the front with the 3.8-inch capacitive touchscreen offering a resolution of 800 x 840 (you’ll not see too much WP7 variation in this department).
Measuring 118.5 x 61.5 x 11.96mm and weighing in at 140g, it is filled with all the connectivity you’d expect, with HSDPA, Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1.
Like the other HTC handsets launched today, it features Dolby Mobile and SRS surround sound to boost the audio offering, along with the WP7-integrated Zune player.
HTC has highlighted the Trophy with a line about Xbox Live in its press release, but the Xbox features will be the same as all other Windows Phone 7 handsets.
Internally we again find a 1GHz QSD processor, 512MB ROM, 576MB RAM and 8GB of storage.
We’re composing our thoughts on the HTC 7 Trophy for a forthcoming First Look review, but in the meantime, enjoy all our hands-on photos.
