Available from late October 2010, 3M's two latest additions to its pocket projector range are both brighter than their forebears. Both offer 30 lumens of brightness, and are further bolstered by two hour in-use battery life.
The MP160 is a pass-through device, with video inputs for connection to a whole host of different sources - such as laptop, mobile phone, games consoles and the like. It has a slim form factor, being 150 x 65 x 30.5mm, and can project images up to 80 inches.
It's higher spec'ed stablemate, the MP180, is slightly chunkier, at 150 x 65 x 33, but trades a supermodel waistline for 4GB of internal memory, micro SD card slot, and USB port. It also includes a touchscreen panel for control purposes, and integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support.
Both projectors have SVGA resolutions (800 x 600) so aren't quite HD, but they do feature LED bulbs, so have a lamp-life of 20,000 hours (just over 2 years 100 days of continuous use). They also have in-built speakers.
Prices are yet to be announced, but you can safely bet that the MP180 will be more expensive than the MP160. As a guide, the predecessor to both, MP150, cost £350 on launch.
