To celebrate 10 years of the IXUS line of cameras, Canon has released the IXUS 1000 HS. That gives you all the tens: 10 megapixels, 10x zoom, 1080p video camera, in 2010. A fortunate set of coincidences, or something written in the stars?
Announced back on 19 August, we bought you the news here on Pocket-lint and we got our hands on this sexy looking camera today, so thought we'd bring you some hands-on shots. Yeah, we know its already been seen out and about, but look at those angles!
The HS moniker in the titles tells us that this is an HS System camera, combining a high sensitivity 10-megapixel sensor with the DIGIC4 processor, which Canon say offers better performance from higher ISOs, and coping better with more difficult shooting conditions.
It has a 16:9 display on the back is reminiscent of the IXUS 200 although this isn't a touchscreen model. The body has bloated a little to incorporate that 10x zoom lens, but we can help admiring those angular looks. Something about the IXUS 1000 HS screams muscle car to us, but we can't quite put our finger on it.
Announced with an RRP of £349, Amazon have the silver version on offer for £277, and we are anticipating the imminent arrival of a review model.
