To be honest, we at Pocket-lint don't know any members of the fairer sex who prefer pink gadgets to normal coloured ones, and we're of the strong opinion that a joypad is a joypad, no matter the hue. If you're spending your time staring at the controller while playing games, you're doing it wrong.

However, there must be a market for devices coloured like a baboon's mud flaps, or else they wouldn't keep appearing. We've had a pink Nintendo DS, pink iPod, pink mobile phones, a pink Cadillac (riding in the back, oozing down the street), and Pink - the popstress.

Now Sony is getting into the act (again, remember the monstrosity that was the pink PS2?) with a pink version of its DualShock 3 controller for the PS3.

Listed for pre-order on US retailer GameStop's site (www.gamestop.com), the joypad costs $54.99 (£35.60) and has two main features: Firstly, it's a controller for the PS3. And secondly, it's pink. Er, that's it.

There's no word yet on whether it'll make it over to the UK, or whether it will be followed by a PS3 Slim the same colour, but we'll let you know if it does.

So you can run away screaming.
