No one likes getting smudges all over their touchscreen.

That must have been what the boffins over at eyeSight thought before they developed this brilliant hand gesture controlling technology, which it has called Moove.

Claiming it to be the world's first "mobile phone music player controlled by hand gesture", Moove allows you to control your tunes without ever touching your phone's screen.

The app, which has been available exclusively to Nokia 5800 XpressMusic users during its testing period has already been downloaded more than half a million times.

"The hand gesture interface that offers interaction Beyond Touch, has been enthusiastically adopted by users of touch screen devices," said Itay Katz eyeSight's founder and CEO.

"We are in talks with mobile phone manufactures to license the hand gesture interface to be integrated into new smartphones."

The video also shows off how else the tech could be used, such as web browsing and photo gallery viewing.

With Microsoft all but admitting to Pocket-lint that Windows Phone 7 devices could see some Kinect action going forward, then the future of motion controlling on mobile devices looks as if it could be a vastly expanding area.
