The Philips GoGear Connect is the latest MP3 player from Philips, and the latest to sport the Android OS as more and more MP3 players look to offer more than just folder navigation.

The Philips GoGear Connect MP3 player is an Android powered device that will come with a 3.2-inch resistive screen, no, not capacitive, and Google powered innards. The MP3 player will offer users the ability to store up to 3600 tracks, and 4000 photos on its 16GB of internal memory.

There is an FM radio, microSD card slot for expanding your storage options further and even a built-in 3.2-megapixel camera so you can take snaps. 25 hours of music playback and 5 hours of video playback complete the picture.

In the hand and the player is well made and solid, however it's large when compared with other MP3 players. It's so large in fact, that given a phone aerial it could fight it out amongst the budget Android handsets with ease thanks to it packing Android 2.1.

The biggest surprise though, is that resistive screen. We see so few resistive screens in new tech that at first we thought it was a dodgy capacitive offering.

This might be a good attempt, but with Samsung and Apple light years ahead, we struggle to understand why when most of the features are spot on, it's added tech that will let it down from the start.
