iPod touch gets FaceTime

1 September 2010 18:44 GMT / By Paul Lamkin

The worst kept secret leading up to the Apple event over in San Francisco was that the iPod touch would be getting FaceTime.

And, Steve Jobs has confirmed what we all suspected.

The Apple boss also stated that the new iPod touch would be thinner, have the same retina display as the iPhone 4, and the same A4 chip, as well as the 3-axis gyroscope. It will come loaded with the new iOS 4.1 software.

The new iPod touch will have the front facing camera for your FaceTime calls as well as a camera on the front capable of filming HD videos.

The fourth generation iPod touch will be capable of 40 hours of audio playback and will be available in three different sizes - 8GB (£189), 32GB (£249) and 64GB (£329).

Like the new iPod shuffle and the new iPod nano touch, the device will be available next week - with pre-orders open now.

Take a look at how the new iPod touch compares the older model.
