Olympus E-5 rumours focus in on 14 September launch

Olympus will launch a follow-up to its E-3 DSLR camera on 14 September according to rumours doing the rounds on the Internet.

43rumours, a Four Thirds rumour site, is claiming it has the inside scoop on Olympus' next camera to come out of the gates.

According to the site, that just so happened to be bang on the money for the launch of a special edition Olympus E-P2 on Tuesday morning, the Japanese company will launch a new model ahead of Photokina on Tuesday 14 September that will replace the now over 3-year-old model.

The new E-5, as it will supposedly be known, will have a 12-megapixel sensor (2 megapixels up from the E-3), the company's new TruePic 5 engine for processing, 720p HD video recording at 30p with a mic jack for external recording, an 11 point AF system, and a 3-inch screen around back.

Furthermore it will have Olympus' Art Filters system that let you add special effects in camera without the need for a computer and dedicated editing software.

No word on pricing, but if 43rumours are right, we shouldn't have long to wait for all the details.
