Google shows its scary side with Shelly inspired Google Doodle

Halloween comes early

Google has shown its scary side in its latest Google Doodle, taking inspiration from Mary Shelly's 213th birthday.

Shelly who created Frankenstein, is remembered with a doodle consisting of a darkened hallway with four ghostly pictures hanging on the wall and a figure looming in a doorway.

Clicking on the doodle takes you through to a search for Mary Shelley.

Mary Shelley was born on 30 August 1797 and died on 1 February 1851, she was a British novelist, short story writer, dramatist, essayist, biographer, and travel writer, best known for her Gothic novel Frankenstein: or, The Modern Prometheus (1818).

She also edited and promoted the works of her husband, the Romantic poet and philosopher Percy Bysshe Shelley. Her father was the political philosopher William Godwin, and her mother was the philosopher and feminist Mary Wollstonecraft.
