It really is all go over at Mountain View.

Not content with Google Voice updates, iOS app updates and launching a new real-time search service, the Big G has now launched a brand new weekly video service called Google Beat.

No, it's not a weekly round-up of what new startups Google has pummelled into submission (or taken over as it likes to say), it is a weekly overview, direct from the Googleplex, of the top web trending topics.

Emily Wood of the Google Blog team explains: "Every day, there are more than a billion searches for information on Google. Have you ever wondered what those searches are about, or whether what you’re searching for also happens to be on the minds of millions of others across the country?

"We’re introducing a new way to find out - a regular video series called the Google Beat that highlights some of the hottest searches on Google in the U.S".

Google Beat will take data from Google Trends, Google Insights for Search as well as other tools within its massive armoury and, according to Wood "give you a snapshot of some of the topics that prompted people to turn to the web over the past week".

The first video is up, which you can see above and you can also subscribe over at the dedicated YouTube landing page.
