Tech deals: Affordable Alcatel brings QWERTY functionality

Budget QWERTY handset

25 August 2010 13:16 GMT / By Ben Crompton

If you're looking for a QWERTY handset on the cheap then you may be interested in the news that Alcatel has just launched the social media-orientated Alcatel OT-802.

Available from phones4U for £44.95 on Pay-As-You-Go, the handset features a full QWERTY keyboard along with optical trackpad, 2MP camera and FM radio.

The large keyboard means that it could be just right for anyone into their social networking, as Facebook and Twitter can be updated directly from the phone - as the company states: "making this mobile an essential tool for today’s social network driven society".

Well, we're not sure we like the sound of a society purely driven by the "social network" (sounds a bit of a naff place), but one thing's for sure the phone is cheap as chips, so it could be a bit of a bargain.

If you want to take a look, click through on this link that'll take you through to a place to buy at Phones4U.
